I seen them 7 times now and twice this year 😉 This year in Madison and Milwaukee.
Their new bass player can hold his own. I was very impressed that dude can jam!!

Oh I forgot to add Godsmack is awesome in concert and if you want to see what Metallica has been playing goto www.livemetallica.com and browse their catalog. The concert should be a good one because they have been on the road for a year now 😉

Setlist was awesome for the Detroit show about 1.5 months ago... A good mix of old and new... I hate pretty much all the new stuff but in concert the newer stuff they played was actually pretty good... Godsmack puts on a killer show to start things off, they are one of the best bands I've seen live... its always nice to hear a band in person and they sound better than the radio... Too bad Godsmacks set was really short but Metallica made up for it by playing for about 2 hours.

One bad thing though is it only took 5 maybe 6 songs and Hatfields voice was already backstage tossin a few back to sooth the old cords...

It looks like they're playing two-three songs from St. Anger, a lot of really old stuff they never really played live before (Dyers Eve, etc).

You can download every live show they did on this tour, it was only like $12 for two CDs in FLAC.

ya i didint know about that metlive site thats awesome
ill have to dload one for my collection...

thanks for the info guys and ill post tomorrow if they kicked ass or not hehe..
i like godsmack alot on CD never seen them live lookign forward to it.

ok concert was pretty darn good..
Godmack had superior sound mixing and sounded much better than Metallica did though.. metallica had dull bass and and drums for the first time ive ever seen them...
maybe its Lars new garage drum set.. (smallest kit ive ever seen Lars behind in 20 years looked like the high school rock bands set...

Godsmack had 2 giant sets on the stage and the sound was perfect all the way across..

James sounded very "muddy" not clean normal vocals for metallica at all..
Robert I dont think is anywhere near as good as Jason or Cliff was.. but hes ok.

dont get me wrong it was a good concert but whomever was runnign the mixing board for metallica sucks the fatty..

i went though the set lists on that site and it looks like we got a new one.. or they strated winging it after we booed them for playing crap off of reload/ST Anger... they seemed to only play old stuff after that..

Order is a blur now but this was the play list
Legacy of Gold Intro
Blackened
fuel
sad but true
Holier than Thou
kirk solo
Whereever I may roam
dirty window (arena boo'ed this song guess everyone hates the new stuff as much as me =P)
Sanatarium
King Nothing
Master of Puppets
One
Enter Sandman
Creeping Death
one
battery
I Dissappear
Die Die Die My Darling
Seek and Destroy
Unforgiven

all in all a decent set list..
not alot of typical Metallica Antics as in past shows (seems like a completely differnet band now with robert and the rest of the Band not chugging beer and having fun... looked like they taking things alot more like a job than they used to..

They played One twice ???

And they finished with Unforgiven?? Generally you want to end on a high-energy note.

I wouldn't go see them if they were playing at my neighbor's house for free.

Bleh as long as they dont play anything past "Black" they rock =P
and it was a great concert.. just not their best mixing job....
they sounded better when they came through last year with linkin park... in a MUCH bigger stadium...

They're friggin 40... there's no way they can kick it like the old days... especially during long tours. Be glad they can still play the music.

I was at their first show in San Francisco in 198something when they opened for Y&T.
They've been going downhill since then.

j/k 😀
