Metallica - Death Magnetic

Some of you may know that it is out on torrents now. Now for those of you who did download it; what is your opinion of it.

I personally am enjoying it. It reminds me of a mix of "Kill 'Em All" and "...And Justice For All. in a way, the only real complaint I have is James's vocals.. they just remind me of St.Anger much more than they should...

Ive heard the whole album. It was played on the local hardrock radio station a couple weeks back,

The vocals are my only problem with it. I think James is getting to old to do the vocals he did back in the day. The instrumental stuff is classic pre Load/Reload Metallica. The Vocals are Post-Black Album James trying to sing.

Is Kirk hammett still trying to sound like Joe Satriani?

When has Hammett ever tried to sound like Satriani? 😕

How can you even compare the two? lol

On freaking Load!!! Have you listened to that album? It sounds like Joe Satriani featuring Metallica.

Hmm, interesting, I will have to give it a listen with that slant in mind.

You do realize that Satriani is a friend and mentor of Hammett, right? It wouldn't really be surprising. It's not because he was trying to imitate him. They have completely different styles of music.. lol...

Listening to the instrumental now (10 minutes long, OMG!) and I'm buying this album. On release day I'll buy it from Napster (partially for the irony).

It´s really good.. I think it will shut up a lot of the Metallica bashers. Of course it's no Master of puppets, but it's a huge improvement from St. Anger.

I was a bit worried after hearing Cyanide a few weeks ago, but it's the weakest track on the record.

I've liked Metallica for a long time, but they are past their prime. The new album is alright, but there are simply better bands playing better music now. They may have helped kickstart their genre, but they've been on the side of the road for some time.

Personally, from what little I've heard, it sounds like old guys trying too hard. The 'yeah yeah' crap needs to go away... forever.... to never neverland.

To be fair, my favorite album is probably Kill 'em All (followed closely by Master of Puppets). I know they can never sound that way again but damn I want them to!

Cyanide > Day That Never Comes by FAR. What are you smoking? I think it's even better than My Apocalypse. Killer track with sweet tempo changes IMO. But to each their own.

Edit: I was referencing the live version of Cyanide they've been pimping (from Ozzfest). Studio version isn't as good. meh.

I've hated Metallica since their 1999 Napster BS they started pulling.

damn them for wanting to shut down a network whose only use was mass piracy of metallica's (and others') songs!

Well Satriani did train Hammett you know. Besides that I never thought Hammett ever sounded like Satriani.

They're musicians, who gives a fuck what they do outside of their music? Listen to the album and make a judgment based on how it sounds or just shut the fuck up.
