I'm a huge fan of this album, but there's just something that hits me wrong about about the vocals. Not sure what it is... and luckily the music is just so damned good I don't pay it much mind.

Wait... whoa, did they really put Death Magnetic at #6 when DevilDriver and Bodom are sitting near the bottom?

Credibility is gone... all of it.

Hrmmm...It's definitely more metal than a lot of the stuff on there. Not sure I'd rank it that high though.

I have to ask HTF did Korn, HIM, Disturbed, and SOAD make it on there (and at 2????) but yet Corrosion of Conformity gets snubbed. In the Arms of God was a fucking bad ass album. Hell, even Machine Heads prior album Through the Ashes should be on there before those.

Also Sacrament and Ashes of the Wake were better than New American Gospel.

And how did The Sword not make it on there?

Lame list.

I disagree. NAG is 10000x better than anything LOG has put out with Sony. Its a shame that Prosthetic bands put out good albums and then when signed on big labels they put out crap.

That list is horrible. Especially since half those bands put out WAY better albums than whats on the list.

Such as? This is for 2000-2010.

I would have taken off Airbourne and NIN and put both of Protest the Hero's albums on there. Kezia is easily top 20. I also wouldn't have rated Death Magnetic that high but see no problem paying homage to the pioneers.

Saw Machine Head live, it was pretty goddamn funny.

[metalvoice]RARARARAOORHRHRRARHRHRHRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA[/metalvoice]

then, there'd be a break in the vocals, and the lead singer would stop with the metal voice and with this high pitched voice (well, high pitch compared to the growling and yelling in the vocals), encourage all the kids in the crowd to headbang, like so :

"On the count of three, I want you all to HEAD BANG!! (again, imagine this in a somewhat joyful, upbeat tone) 1 .. 2 ... 3 .. HEAD BANG!!"

he'd do the same but with hand clapping, too, it sounded like he was addressing a crowed of 5 year olds...then go back to the screaming when he was done. It was almost like a bad parody. Their music is cool but that scene threw me for a loop.

Yeah they're old school. They are all about the headbanging (HEADBANG, MFer). Keep in mind they've been playing since the early 90's and they're not young, Flynn is 41 and Dummel/McClain are 43. So while it was hip to say that in the 90's and maybe not so much now, they're not changing. They are forever thrash metal which is what makes them great and legends like Megadeth want them to open for them.

They also won the 2010 Golden Gods award for "Best Live Band":
As for Machine Head's win, Metal Hammer explains how they beat out the competition: "From The Black Procession to last summer’s Sonisphere festival, you know when Machine Head are in town they’re going to drink all of your town’s vodka and play the best heavy metal show possible. Cheers fuckers!"

Meh .... IMO list is pretty bad....

No Ayreon, Porcupine Tree, Electric Wizard, Immortal, Paradise Lost, Sentenced, Nile, Nevermore, Candlemass, Kreator, Kamelot, Amon Amarth, Behemoth, Katatonia, Anathema, or so many other good bands ...

Ok ... Porcupine Tree isn't really "metal" as they started out with psych rock, and dabbled in prog metal, but then again, NIN isn't metal.... and they made the list...

Ohh well, at least Machine Head kicks ass, but SOAD, Slipknot, Korn? Seriously?
And Megadeth and Metallica? They haven't put out anything really great since the early 90s.

This.

The fact that they put Death Magnetic on there AT ALL made them lose all credit in my eyes.

Glad to Opeth on the list though.

Megadeth's Endgame kicked serious ass.

Slipknot and Korn are beyond their primes and I would have dropped both albums much lower as well as Death Magnetic.

i'm surprised no one here has expressed dismay at system of a down's toxicity being ranked #2. There are usually plenty of haters

FWIW, I think its a fucking great album.

I listened to 2 and a half minutes of the first song (from your link). I lolled at how abysmal it is. I cried for the horrible state music is in, and cried more for the ever-declining artistic (autistic) taste of society.
