Can't wait to buy it, I remember when MGS2 was available for the PC and you needed the latest video card (5800-5900 nvidia series) since it was the first video card to introduce 1gb vram lol. That was about 10-11 years ago and since then we've never seen a MGS title come back to the PC. I hope they get a lot of revenue from PC gamers to encourage them to sell more titles to the PC

You know the PS4 version ran @ 60 fps @ 1080p with AA? Well Ground Zeroes did...

Got Ground Zeroes today. One of the most optimized (and good looking) PC games that I've played this year hands down. Definitely looking forward to the Phantom Pain next year :D

The game looks ok, I have everything maxed out but it still has a lot of jaggies. I'll look into the settings a bit more, but it is a bit disappointing.

However, I would not recommend getting this game/demo it if you primarily use Mouse and Keyboard. Here are some examples that I have encountered.

Mouse Look Inversion does not work.
- The setting in game only applies to controller.

Mouse acceleration looks to be permanent
- Most noticeable when doing fine controls like ADS or zoomed in binoculars.
- Mouse movement will shift the camera wildly while zoomed in. Very small movements equal huge movement in the game
- While ADS small fine movements will not register until you hit a threshold and then it will move wildly.

The mouse sensitivity option in game does not seem to work.
- I had to resort to using the dpi setting on the mouse to the lowest.

Can't rebind some keys
- Middle mouse button is hard locked.

No mouse support at all in the menus.
- The cursor appears but you can't highlight items.

I'm hoping they fix them, things like this really scream port. Good thing you can get this tech/demp prologue for 10 dollars or less.

If Phantom Pain comes out 7-8 months later on the PC like Ground Zeroes it'll be too fresh IMO for people to buy it again. If you are going to do a delayed release you might as well wait a couple of years it will generate more sales IMO.

playing the main story + cut scenes from MGS 4 will easily take you 40 hours, this game is more like 40 min, I know they are very different, this one focusing on "open world" with a lot of side stuff to do, but that's not how I have fun with MGS, so I can't help but feel very disappointed... still, the game looks quite good,

Wait, isn't this just basically a glorified demo? This is not the full game.
This is like Gran Turismo 5's "Prologue" a few years back; a glorified demo you pay for with a few cars and tracks.
This is not the actual full game, so a comparison about length is moot.

it served as a demo for the Fox Engine I guess, but if you want to do the side stuff you can probably play it for 20+ hours easily, and the game is relevant for the Metal Gear series story, it's not just a demo for the next MGS (Phantom Pain) that game takes place almost 10 years after the events of this game, so they are not going to be using the same stuff for that... so I can't call it a demo, just a very short game...

Ground Zero is the demo that has been out for months. The fact people paid $30 for it (I rented it and finished it in 2-3 hours) tells me that people will guzzle down anything from hiedo kojima and beg for more. The campaign takes place on literally one level. You start it, save a person, then go immediately to another person and save them too. Cut to credits. It's unbelievable.

This could be said of any game on the planet, you could keep pumping hours into it. The game was a few hours at best, even on amazon where MGS gets rave reviews it only mustered a 3.5/5. It was peddled on people who are so horny over MGS they are willing to turn off their brains for a moment and pretend that $30 is okay for what they got.

I personally find it idiotic that this guy snake has a patch on his right eye but still sights a gun down his right shoulder. So stupid.

I already covered what this game was very early in this thread (at least I think it was this thread).

To my knowledge this is not the beginning of Phantom Pain, but completely separate 'intro'. Anyway I grabbed it for $10 at GOG. I haven't had a chance to dig into it, but right away graphically it seems pretty optimized and smooth (even on my old 480). Just messing around pretty sure you need a controller to really play it, but then...MGS has always been controller based so no big deal there.

The transition from CGI?? to game is pretty flawless and looks like game is rendered.

He never said it had been out for months on PC and he was pretty much spot on with the rest.

This is a blatant money grab pure and simple. Kojima has outright said they should have released it (which is the prologue to Phantom Pain) with the main game, but:

"Of course it would be ideal to release Ground Zeroes and the main part of the game all together," Kojima said. "But at the same time given that this week we have the next generation of game consoles coming out, a lot of the fans wanted to play something sooner. And given that the main game is a rather big game and still in development, it will take a little bit more time to get it out. We decided to listen to the fans and put at least the prologue out there so people will get the experience."

They knew they could get people to pay a ridiculous price for a glorified demo, so they did. Not that it's surprising since people used to buy entire other games just for demos (so it's not really that new of a thing, although in that instance you're still getting an entire other game with it). $5-10 I think they could justify as that feasibly would have covered the development costs of this part (plus serve as a beta test for the engine/gameplay), but $30 is just outright ridiculous. If it's worth it for you then great, but stop pretending this is anything other than what it is (and saying they did it because fans wanted is disingenuous, they wanted to play the game, not pay an extra $30 for what Kojima himself said should have just been included with the main game).

I'd like to see you write this and sell it for $5 guarantee you ask more, cause it costs more than you think.

It is an amazing engine and has fantastic animations, lighting, and voice work. Really it's worth it IMO.

Graphically the only thing that blew me away was the texturing. It looks really nice and Konami's focus on material quality and light interaction looks excellent.

However, the game looks quite nice. More surprising to me was how nicely it ran on my machine. Even my lowly Phenom II x4 (but OCed to 3.5 GHz) with R9 270 had no problem maintaining 60 FPS with modeling and textures set to extra high, with everything else at high. This was at 1600 x 900 resolution.

And yes, Ground Zeroes is a glorified demo, but it has replayability with the extra missions and at least prepares and ties us over until The Phantom Pain releases.

I don't know if anybody else notices this, but Snake is mostly always out of focus... (running on everything maxed out) And where are the reflections that nvidia promised us? Looks exactly like my PS4's but smoother lines... And out of focus snake...
