Metal Gear Solid 4 intro talk show...WTF?

I just installed MGS4 on the PS3 and was treated to some strange talk show video...and pressing L1 and R1 changed channels to a bunch of other weird programs. Why were these never mentioned in any reviews? I thought I was losing my mind when I started flipping through these trippy channels...

Yea I was like wtf also but Hideo Kojima has done some weird stuff in the older Metal Gears as well so it's not out of line.
 
Yeah, I thought they were dumb. I think they're just on the disc to showcase high definition video. It's slightly story related, but doesn't add to the main story line.
 
^I don't think they're in full HD (720p/1080i/1080p). I thought they had to scale them down a bit so they could fit on the disc.

Supposedly the full HD versions are on the bonus disc that came with the limited edition.
 
That must be some of that 50 gigs of essential content that makes the game so impossible to distribute on the DVD format... 😛

My first two play throughts, I didn't even know that you could change the channel. It was on my third that I started button mashing and found that you could. I thought it was based on difficulty or 'new game' options...
 
had to include stupid, pointless shit to fill up 50gb so Sony can try and pimp blu-ray. Kojima reported said he didn't have enough space with 50gigs and had to cut and compress things, I believe it was language tracks or something to that.
