Metal Gear: Rising Any one play it yet?

I am a huge Metal Gear fan. I was thinking about picking up the latest, but after my last purchase of Hitman, I am skeptical of buying a game brand new before any bugs can be identified.

Has any one gotten a chance to play it yet? I read a few reviews and it seems really cool. I am sort of dissapointed it's purely action, because the whole Metal Gear series has been about being sneaky and cunning rather than full out fighting.

I enjoyed it alot but its not like the others its more like a Devil May Cry type game

Good but short
I think my total playtime for the first run through was just over 4 hours

Is it still Metal Gear or is it now Call of Metal Duty Gear? Honest question for those who have played it.

Wow thanks good to know. I am def not buying this game new then if I am paying $60 for 4 hours of entertainment. I will look to buy lightly used.

I only played the demo, but it seemed pretty lackluster to me. The story seemed... alright, and the whole sword mechanic felt way too gimmicky. In a way, I was hoping that it would bring me back to the craziness of Shinobi (PS2), but it didn't.

Are there any spoilers for MGS4? (I watched the MGS4 promo videos, so I know that Raiden is the Cyber Ninja, with his fabulous tacti-heels.)

Necro...But I finally picked the game up b/c I am a huge MGS fan. It def does feel like a Devil May Cry, but... It is what it is. I kind of like it. Nice graphics and the music is pretty cool. I like the fact I can gain health back when I fight people...It makes the fights a little easier and fun to rip out people's spines..... muahahaaa

I watched people play the game awhile ago, and the boss battles seemed sooooooo boringly looooooong. Boss comes at you, you hit it a few times, goes and does crazy shit that you need to dodge, rinse and repeat.

I think a lot of hack em up slash em up games are like that? So far the battles seem okay. I am coming off of playing God of War and I find this game to be more enjoyable so far. I ltierally quit GOW because the camera angles and battles straight up sucked donkey scrote.

Yeah. Hack-n-Slash games do tend to be a bit more like that, but Revengeance just seemed to be so long. Maybe it's because I was watching it rather than playing it? ...or maybe because there tends to be a break in combat when the enemy goes and starts talking? Sometimes a change of scenery (i.e. altering the battlefield by moving or destroying parts of it) helps because then it doesn't feel the same. :$

I feel like GOW was the same fighting style and all they did was change the scene up a bit, but over all it was the same fight. I like how in MGS you can do that slowed time slash and that you can get totally different weapons. GOW it was just the blades, even though you got different "elemented" the moves were all basically the same, besides magic.

Ah well...I've just come to accept most modern games now get little quality in the way of game play. It's all about graphics and making me go "ooooooooh!!!... Aaaaahhh!!!" and continuing franchises.

This game isn't typical hack and slash. There's no block, but there is parry. If you can learn to parry you can do some devastating damage. It's super hard to pull off consistently though. Most of the battles have multiple parts with some QTEs thrown in as is norm these days, but what I think sets it apart is blade mode. In some instances the only way to get a hit is to enter blade mode (slow motion) and slash a specific direction.
