If that slight bit of demostrating neffing is the only reason Windogg was banned then I must strongly disagree with that decision.

mods can ban all they want to...i just thought i'd say aloud what the majority of you are thinking! I dont care if i get banned...this place isn't important to me...everyone i like from AT i talk to on AIM anyways...
 
This place is call Bannedtech for a reason. Personally I think this is bullsh!t (I resisted the urge to defy the swear filter), Windogg did nothing that hasn't been done 100 times before. The mods either need to state a clear set of offenses (that are continually updated) that mandate banning. The first time for one such offense should only bring on a warning, and the list should be updated. A user, especially someone as respected as Windogg, should not be banned for something so stupid as posting 6 times in a row. Its my opinion that the mods were outta line, and I think they need to come back from their powertrip.
 
ltk, I agree completely with your statement. There certainly needs to be better rules. There are other things that are minor that need adjusting, but they're irrelevant to the whole situation this thread presents.
 
ltk007 You really want the mods to stop doing stuff like this? How else can a virginal 38 year old get his jollies?
 
Windogg's banning is currently under review. The moderator who banned him is not currently online, but as soon as he returns, we will discuss whether or not he should remain banned for much longer.

Note: Windogg's ban was not a permanent one, and was never intended to be seen as such.

jesus, that's considered bannable now??? it would be one thing if he did that for a few hundred posts, like seph's antinef thread, but 6 posts can't possibly put any sort of strain on the server or really cause anyone any trouble loading for more than a few seconds or so. this is pretty harsh mods. i don't understand y someone can't have a bit of fun in some replies and give the rest of the board a smile, which windogg has always provided for us.

I can't say that I blame Windogg for not wanting to come back ... he seems to be a really decent guy .. I mean there arent many people that seeing they got a bigger christmas bonus than they expected would go out and buy a bunch of toys for underprivelidged kids after he a had already made one shopping adventure. I will hate to see him go though ... I haven't been a member quite a year yet ... but he has been one of the names that I tend to look for for amusement ... I wish him the best .
 
Red, I've never had a problem with anyone on Ars. You certianly won't find anyone with MPS (multiple post syndrom) over there. 😉

Hopefully after his case has been reviewed, Windogg will be back with us. He's much more productive than many others in this forum; always contributing something interesting to a discussion.
 
I seem to be missing something somewhere.

First of all, I will miss Windogg.

Secondly, I don't really understand the fuss. It appears that Windogg chooses to remain away. From the Moderator's comments, it appears that the banning was only temporary (from the administration point of view). All Windogg has to do is ask to return.

Finally, I would appreciate more uniformity in moderators applying the rules. We should have more consistancy as some moderators clearly tolerate (and encourage) behavior another moderator frowns on.


Perhaps the rules could be more clearly posted and explained - and WARNINGS given out before banning (which does appear rather drastic).
 
Aite - i dont post that much (i read a lot) but this is gettin a bit outta hand.... every person i see gets ban'd for soem weird ol reason.

I thought AT was a place to "MIX" technology with some "FUN". i mean, i can understand proffesionalism (sp?) but testing its limits is not very good.

finally we will be having members like me - who only read (and do less posts). i mean the forums would kinda DIE.

so if a MOD is reading this - i do respect ur work - but CHILLLLLLLL DUDE.







 
Not Windogg! 🙁 Damn that sucks! He will definitely be missed. I always enjoyed reading his posts. They were always funny and clever, even if he was a bit of a nef.

And I agree that the mods are getting a little trigger happy. I think they've gone mad with power. 😉
