Local radio station Star 102 fired up the Christmas music this morning, the morning of Halloween.

Assuming they stop the carol tunes on Dec. 26, that?ll be two solid months of holiday cheer on the airwaves.

Is it way too early to start the Christmas music barrage? Or are you cranking up Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby today?

"It?s pretty simple. In a market where there are two radio stations doing Christmas music, the one who goes first is usually the winner. That?s been proven all over the country,? says former Entercom and CBS honcho Bob Zuroweste, a veteran Christmas music warrior. ?I?m talking about weeks ahead, not moments, hours or days ahead. If somebody decides to sit back and wait a few weeks, they?re going to lose.?

My god, I would have to put a bullet in my brain if I had to listen to two months of that crap. A couple weeks before-hand is fine to get in the spirit, but this is ridiculous.

The workers at linens-n-things started things up at the beginning of october :Q. That, my friends, is 1/4 of your working life listening to christmas music.

So in 10 years or so Christmas crap will be on sale year round?

Somebody plot this and see where we stand in the future. I don't care enough and I'm hungry, so I'm not gonna do it.

Christmas music SUCKS. Give me one yearly playing of Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer and one of Father Christmas by the Kinks. That's plenty.

During the Thanksgiving holiday we would set up our Christmas lights and turn them on for the first time on Thanksgiving evening.
