Mercenaries 2 (PS3)

Why does everyone hate Mercs 2? I got it today used for $10 and i've been playing it and having fun!

sure, the graphics aren't that great for a PS3 game, but it's a fun game so far.

I can see being disappointed if you blew $60 on it at release, but you're spot on: for $10, it's a hilarious, buggy, awesome ride. I convinced a friend of mine to buy it with me during the $10 Best Buy sale a while back. We played co-op for maybe eight hours and barely took a break from laughing.

"MORE AIR STRIKES. JOE, CALL IT IN."

"BUSY GRAPPLING TO A HELICOPTER."

Whats the trick to doing the HVT missions? Every time I subdue the target, one of the enemies ends up killing him before i can extract.

I don't know how the enemies end up killing him but who cares (well, you would care if you were going after an Achievement)!

Money is not a big issue in the game. I finished the game with $44M left after spending a load on air strikes and attack choppers.

usually it seems to be by a grenade or rocket launcher. they're shooting at me and they end up hitting him.

my game didn't come with a manual, so i am confused about something.

stuff like fuel, money stacks, and artillery things that you can mark for pickup. how does that work? once i mark it do i have to stay there and wait for it to be picked up or does it automatically get picked up after i mark?

In addition to calling for strikes, one of your options is to call for pickup. As long as you have the helicopter pilot on your team you'll throw down smoke and he'll come pick it up. If you don't have the pilot, keep playing missions until you do.

You can also tell your chopper dude to pick up multiple items in the vicinity, provided that you mark them (or you can mark one, send in a chopper, and while it is coming, you can run to another item and mark that and it will be picked up as well)

Also, note that you do have stay in the vicinity of the item to be picked up. If you tag something, tell the chopper to pick it up, then drive off, you probably won't get it.

I want to say he will still pick it up if you leave the vicinity. Once you get far enough away I think it just automatically adds what you had marked rather than waiting for the chopper to actually pick it up and fly away.

it does still get picked up if i leave the general area. sometimes its in a friendly base and they get pissed if you steal it, so you have to leave quickly.

Hmmm, maybe it does still get picked up and you just don't get the notification? I seem to remember (it's been a while since I played) that it seemed like if I left the area I wouldn't get the message saying I got it.

its weird, because i'll get the message that i got it, but at the same time i get a message that says there isn't anything to pick up...

I think that's just a glitch. I had that happen to me a lot as well (on the 360) but it would still add what I marked.

oh, and do some of those things respawn? i swear i've had stuff that i already picked up come back and i could get it again.
