Surprised no one had made a thread about it finally debuting.

Lots more pics in the link including it in red and that sorta golden yellow.

Looks good. Seems to be offering more or less what the SLS AMG did, only in a more sleek and svelte package. The front end especially looks like the SLS but I think with better looking headlights. I think I liked the SLS taillights a bit better, but this one isn't bad. The canopy kinda flows into the back end a lot more than the SLS (which went for the long rear deck like the 300SL, although the GT aims to mimic that car's sideglass more than the SLS). Oh, but no gullwing doors though.

Interior is a bit...not sure. That center console looks unwieldy.

4.0L twin turbo V8, two levels, one with 503hp/479tq and then later a 456hp/443tq version (and I'm sure late on an even more powerful version). 7 speed dual clutch (assuming probably the same as the one in the SLS). It's a bit more compact than the SLS (I did see that the GT has like double the trunk space though), and it should weigh a bit less.

Not sure on price yet, but it's supposed to be targeting the 911 and Jag F-Type to give you an idea. But looks like it'll be about the SLS for half the price.

Mercedes is entering a golden age of design. They are hitting them out of the ballpark, one after another.

Hideous poop sandwich. Looks like a Jag and a Panamera had a rough birthing and it ended up looking like it's ugly german putzfrau momma.

I'd still like a nice small tasteful one. Make the "bar" thinner and downsize the star. I hate how so many brands are just throwing the biggest logo they can on there. Cadillac is doing that now and Mercedes has been slowly following the domestic pickup trucks which now have just ridiculously size emblems. This looks like they just pulled it from one of their semis and slapped it on a 2 seat sports car.

I also hate all the huge fake grilles and inlets they're putting on cars now. Looks like 60% of the main grille on this is closed off. You can see radiators behind the two big side ones so at least they're functional.

The F-Type is another car that would look better if they'd just go with smaller openings and use some active shutters on the main grille.

I think it looks really good. I like Mercedes recent designs. I wouldn't mind buying one used after couple of years.

Best-looking thing I've seen in a while. 95% of new cars that people post range from 'meh' to 'coathanger abortion.'

I'm guessing those that don't like it want more random jagged edges and tacked-on crap.

I love the rear, but the front could use a bit more aggression. I don't really care for how the head lights sit high next to the hood. Their angle is somewhat feminine.

The roundness has a bit of the retro look to it. It has a blend of classy and modern sports car look. I could imagine a guy who'd like to wear a suit and go out in a date in style to dig this.

I personally dig more of the modern and edgy like the C7 Stingray/Lambo.

Actually, I picture this as a car that James Bond would drive around in. I know it's heresy, but I've never liked the way those older jag / aston martin / etc looked.

ya, the taillight is kinda meh, reminds me of the old Lexus SC coupe.

but as another member said, this is the golden age of MBZ design, everything from C to S looks damn nice and desirable.

I really hate the back end of this car. Had they done anything different than a rounded, bubbly, back, I'd like the car.

New vid I hadn't seen just popped up on autoblog:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5KLwyMzWGg

I will say I don't like the look of their pop-up spoiler. Think I'd prefer more of the air brake type of ones than the ones that actually rise up on the stilts. This one especially looks flimsy and cheap.

Dunno how anyone could call this 'hideous'. Maybe not your style, but hideous?

Same here. I was expecting a lot of comments about that center console but not the exterior (which if anything I was expecting more "looks too much like the SLS" or something).

It's funny such a mixed reaction to this car... I think it's beautiful :)

Yeah I'm a bit baffled by the mixed reactions.

I'm confused too... my only qualm about this car is that there's likely no convertible in the pipeline as they're thinking it will cannibalize SL sales.

I love AMG's, and I have owned one, but I think this looks meh. The front end just looks off, and I think it's the headlights. The back looks ok. I love Mercedes/AMG for their insane engines and power delivery. However, nothing they put out will kill a 911 in their respective price bracket. Bonus points to the 997 for their design, because it is way better than this.
