mensa listed on resume?

I don't know about "gauche", but "pompous" definitely comes to mind.

Mental masturbation gold medalist != automatic good employee.

what's the resume for? if it's relevant, do it.

but i can't stand bloated resumes that list sat scores and stuff when they're not appropriate.

Oh, and while you're at it, put your penis length on there too.
And sexuality too!!!! Hey, your interviewer could be gay and penis size would definitly help sway his decision in hiring you 😉

Edit: If you have a small penis, I'd advise not to put it on there 😉

Would listing mensa membership on a resume be considered gauche?

Does being a Mensa member automatically qualify you as a good employee? Nope. You can be Einstein and still not know jackshit about the job you're applying for.

In other words, don't put it on your resume. It's very gauche.

lol, lots of responses. suprising. it's not a satanic cult, or even the masons-

I don't know when it could be more relevant than otherwise (unless applying for truely brainless job) but I assumed it would be one level more tactfull than listing a gpa. Having no certifications or degrees, my resume is quite concise. Perhaps too concise.

Uh...a gpa is relevant because it shows your performance in school...which means shoot you learn stuff relevant to your experience. A person belonging in Mensa doesn't know EVERYTHING in the world, and a membership in Mensa probably has no correlation with your ability to work effectively at your job position whatsoever.

When I was reading developer resumes at my last job it would not have helped you one bit. I'd rank listing it as being as worthless as most honor society memberships. GPA 3.6 > (GPA 3.58 + Mensan).

You'll probably only puzzle most HR people, and the rest will find you pretentious rather than impressive.

I think mensa means table in Latin.

If you're applying for a furniture position, by all means put "mensa" on your resume.
