Men's long figure skating program - the russian fellow really put on a great show :)

That was an impressive program he did. The quad, triple, and double jump was very well done. Not that I'm an expert or anything on figure skating, just giving my layman's opinion on what I saw.

Didn't see how Elvis Stojkyo (sp?) do, how did he do? He's been off the radar for quite a while now, not winning medals like he used to.
 
its the talent and performance that really draws me in, not what he/she wears. what's gay to you may not be to others, its all relative. I guess you're entitled to your opinion as much as I am to mine 🙂
 
hmmm....so you're saying men shouldn't figure skate and women shouldn't play hockey, is that what you're trying to get at? I see nothing wrong with men in tights on ice 😛
 
Yup, that Russian did a great program and certainly deserved the gold.

Peelucky: Elvis did ok. He did 2 quads, but stumbled a couple times during the program and really didn't look as good as he use to. As the first skater to successfully to do a quad, he will always be remembered. Speaking of quads, the American kid(sorry, I'm lousy with names) did 3 quads flawlessly and the Russian skater did 2, as I recall. I wonder howlong it will be before someone does a quint!
 
The Russian guy almost fell on one of his triples, didn't he? I think it was a triple at least...

I think a quint would be crazy to see, but that much rotation in so little time is just suicide for your ankles and whatnot, upon landing.
 
Did you see the mime-like thing he did at the very beginning of his skate? Wow... I can't believe the US judge gave him a 6.0 for artistic merit after that. 🙂😀
 
Men + figure skating = Gay?

I didn't think this world is so screwed up, yet some of you think this way... randomly grouping the athletes, can't differentiate an Olympic sport from gay men, this is so depressing, I feel sorry for you.
 
as smart as some people on AT can be, responses like this lower the iq again...

men's free program was excellent tonite. yagudin was excellent, and goebel can only improve artistically. who knows how great he'll be in a few years. goebel does quads like they're a walk in the park. it's great. i'm not a plushenko fan, but he's only 19 and a force to be reckoned with...

i guess cuz there is music and costumes and sequins, the sport becomes lame... perhaps if the ladies did it naked you'd be satisifed...

I see nothing wrong with watching women figure skating but watching guys just doesn't appeal to me.

Man.... I dont know whether I should laugh or cry at this pathetic statement. Are you telling me watching a male sport is being gay? And I should kiss good bye to the NBA, baseball, football and all those and start watching Mia Hamm so I'll avoid being "gay"? I can't believe this world is so fvcked up. I watch figure skating because I think it's a facinating sport, I dont care if the competitor is a male or female. To me, watching these guys nailing quads is just like seeing Michael Jordan take off from the free throw line. I watch these sports 'cause I think they're cool, why the hell is this so freaking difficult to understand? Damnit! Why the hell do some of you just have to call someone gay? Whether it's the athletes or the people who watch them?!! :|!!!
 
Hehehe! I can see how some guys if not many don't like figure skating. I do think it kinda looks gay on guys. 😀

However, it's good for women. I like it during the Olympics but don't during regular scheduled events.

My favourite of all of the Olympic sports is gymnastics. It's great and way better than skating! 🙂
