I once bought the yellow Camaro Bumblebee - it was level 3 (or something??).

Anyway, I transformed it once or twice,.. then left it in car form on my book shelf.

No thanks for $33,000 I'd rather buy a 370z and track it until I hit a wall than waste it on that.

It looks like someone took a Toy Store shelf from the 80's and bought it all and then stashed it away for 3 decades.

Is it strange that I have absolutely no interest in this?

Not really. I just like it because it brings back some of my childhood. My kid has now broken almost all of my '80s transformers. I'd never actually buy anything like this.

thought it was gonna be a car pic

Cars don't excite me at all. I guess since I only drive maybe 5k miles per year, owning/driving a nice vehicle just doesn't make sense to me. I have no idea what a 370z even is.

The new ones suck. They're rickety plastic junk. The Gen 1 Transformers were marvels of engineering. They were solid, tight fitting, had metal parts, and actually looked like real cars/planes (they started getting bizarre latter on though).

Motorcycles excite me. Cars are cool but once you experience the thrill of riding a motorcycle cars just seem mundane in comparison. A 370Z couldn't even come close to the performance of my bike and riding it is so much more visceral than driving a car is.

Transformers do not include a yellow Camaro named bumblebee. That comes some some wierd knockoff movie that shall never be spoken of.

Bumblebee is a Volkswagon Beetle. In addition, transformers do not have levels, were never in a show called Beast Wars, and none were made after 1990.

That is all.

My wife said that I can't buy a motorcycle until I double my life insurance AND add long term disability. For a vehicle I would get to drive 3 months a year, it just isn't worth it. I've never rode one but am nearing midlife crisis time and have had the urge to learn and buy.

My son watches all the transformer cartoons on Netflix. Beastwars is painful. Very, very, painful. Transformers Prime was pretty cool though.

The first Beast Wars was a bit clunky due to the CGI, but the story turned out to be pretty good. It also had one of my favorite lines (and a major diss of the Corporate Overlords at the time):

While they are struggling to cut into the wall of the original Ark, Optimus turns to the camera and says "Die-cast construction: It's a lost art."

The later BW shows were crap, though.

I do remember my old Transformers having a locking type of feel to them when transforming. So, yes, the quality has changed.

Also, I came across this site; http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/brand.aspx?brand=2 - there are like a million different Transformers,... some seem to be made of metal as well. I think this is the site I picked up Bumblebee,...

I remember telling myself before I got married that if I bought toys for my children to buy two of them so I could stash one away in the original packaging. Off course I never did....
