so i went to http://www.memtest86.com/ downloaded: ISO images suitable for creating a bootable Memtest86 CDROM
Download - Memtest86 v3.2 ISO image (zip)

Extracted the file to the desktop used my Nero to burn it to a bootable CD English version burned stuck the cd back in but when i openend the file it got "Windows cannot open this file: memtest86-3.2.iso windows needs to know what program created it what do you want to do? A) Use Web service to find the appropriate program B) Select the program from a list.. Sorry i am a noob and even more a noob with runing software what did i do wrong what do i have to do .. thanks if you could help.

you restart your PC with the CD in your system and have it boot to CD. If your BIOS ain't setup to boot to CD-Rom you need to do that. Memtest can't be ran in Windows.

o ic. can do.. is there any code i need to know to get it runing ... or does it just take off.... and can it not be enteruped when its going?

it just takes off. You can hit c I think to configure whether you want to use certain tests or not. But all tests are selected by default. You can quit anytime by hitting esc even in the middle of a test. But if your really wanting to test your memory I recommend 25 passes which can take a few hours depending on how much memory you got.

Seems it tests fast with less memory. I normally just let it run overnight.

Just make sure your bios is set to boot of the cdrom before harddrive. It runs stand alone and your pc cannot do anything while you run it.

I sure hope I did this right. Went to run it booted from CD rom got accessing CD rom "EMM386 copy right stuff then a line below that got EMM386 warning address line already enabled _ " and seemed to go no farther. So is that what it is suppose to do or something go wrong?

In Nero i go to Data Make Bootable CD, Disc Content Add memtest86-32.iso add finish next Select Boot Image Use standard boot image "english(United Stats) Next Final Burn Settings Burn

that the right way to do it?
