Memtest86+ Only Tests RAM Memory, Right?

In another thread, I was lamenting about my Corsair XPS2 DDR-667 RAM testing faulty on my machine:

and I decided to RMA the memory for a replacement. I currently have 1 GB of Mushkin PC3200 RAM in there, and I thought on a lark, why not Memtest that as well, since it has been like 2-3 years since I tested that memory when I originally bought it.

Well, Memtest86+ v1.70 is finding plenty of errors in this old memory as well.

I am starting to wonder...could it be a fault in the motherboard? Does Memtest only point to memory errors, or could there be a mobo fault component in this puzzle?

Next step is to install this memory in another computer that accepts PC3200 in DDR and run Memtest on that.

Thoughts?

p.s. Voltage was set to 'HIGH' on my Asrock 4CoreDual-VSTA before testing.

Well...

"<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.memtest86.com/tech.html#trouble">Please be aware that not all errors reported by Memtest86 are due to bad memory. The test implicitly tests the CPU, L1 and L2 caches as well as the motherboard.

It is impossible for the test to determine what causes the failure to occur. However, most failures will be due to a problem with memory module. When it is not, the only option is to replace parts until the failure is corrected.</a>"
