Just got my 1.6a up and running on an Asus P4B533-E, bios 1008. I'm using a stick of 512MB XMS3000c2 v1.1 (black heatspreader), and it doesn't seem to be running up to specs. The 1.6a is a nice one, does 2.4 at default voltage, boots at 2.8 1.7v.
I can't seem to run at DDR400 at any setting, even 3/3/3/7, without getting a ton of errors in memtest86. This stuff is supposed to run at DDR350+ at 2/2/2/5, but I can't even get DDR300 at those settings (150fsb 1:1). I'm running it at DDR300 2/3/3/7. What's interesting is that the errors seem to all be coming from a specific range in the memory address...335MB to 352MB. Could it be that this stick is defective at this memory location?
So I guess my question is when you get memtest errors, do they occur throughout the stick, or are they concentrated in a certain location?
