Memtest errors

If I run Memtest version 3.3 and I get errors reported on my Kingston ECC memory modules when I have the ECC checking turn on (but do not get any errors when the ECC checking is turned off) does this absolutely means that there are problems with the memory modules or is it possible that there is a problem with the motherboard BIOS that is causing these errors to be shown by Memtest ?
