Memtest error is confusing me

I ran memtest yesterday and after about two hours I got an error. I went about testing each stick of RAM separately allowing memtest to run for 12+ hours straight on each stick, which is about the maximum amount of time I could really afford, and during each test I received 0 errors. What would cause errors with both sticks of RAM in together while they run fine separately? CPU-Z has this to say about my RAM.

I had to manually set my CPU voltage in the BIOS but everything else is set to auto, are there some other settings I need to change manually as well? My specs should be in my signature so hopefully that'll be good enough for the moment. Thanks for any help.

Maybe it's one of the slots? Try the other two (assuming you've got 4) and see if that helps.

I have 2 RAM slots, I tested one stick in the first slot and the second stick in the second slot.

That's not uncommon to see failures with two sticks (especially in Dual-channel mode) while each individual stick shows no problem.

I don't know the exact reason.

I manually set RAM voltage to 1.805v, closest to 1.8v my BIOS has, and memtest made it 10 hours without an error before I quit it and restarted. I'm wondering if perhaps my RAM wasn't getting enough or too much voltage while on auto.

possible the auto voltage on the ram; could also be the north-bridge not getting enough voltage

That's set to auto as well, but I don't know what to set it to and I haven't had much luck with google on that.

Do you know what it reads through a software program like hardware monitor? or also does it say in your bios? I know it says auto but sometimes there will be a gray area that has a reading.. I'm thinking with my P45 chipset I was running between 1.3-1.36v... someone correct me if it doesn't seem right...

HWMonitor lists the following voltages:

I don't know which of these would be the northbridge one. In my BIOS all it tells me is that it's set to auto, it doesn't tell me anything else.

2 sticks of DDR2 800, there's only 2 slots on the board.

Using two different manufacturer's modules might be the problem. Even matched sticks can be a problem.

I spent a good amount of time trying to find a second Apacer 2GB stick online and couldn't find one that was an exact match, the ADATA one was the closest I could find at the time. Originally this computer came with 1GB Kingston and 2GB Apacer RAM, I didn't have any issues with that setup and sometimes I wish I hadn't switched the 1GB out. I could replace the Apacer one with a matching ADATA one but I can't afford that for a couple months so at the moment I have to work with what I have.

one thing to do is in the bios change the voltage to it's recommended spec. Like my DDR3 1333 kit on my i7 is rated between 1.5-1.6v for the speeds. I have it set manually to 1.6v

Now from what I can remember on my Gigabyte UD3R board, I also had the NB manually set. I think it was around 1.3v
