memtest crashes when i am running it

does it mean my memory sucks? i'm ocing by the way. i'm trying to see why my comp isn't stable at 150. if memtest crashes, is it the memory that's causing my system to be unstable

btw, i have crucial pc2100 ram...supposedly good stuff...

Seems to be a correlation, right??

Do you have ddr voltage adjustments on your board??? You may wish to bump it up a notch or so, and see if that helps....

I was thinking that perhaps my cpu was crashed. cuz iif it was the memory, wouldn't it just finish running and say at the end that there are errors in the memory?

Can you run Prime95 overnight without any errors? If so, your CPU is definitely not the problem. You have 3 options then: increase DDR voltage as Duvie suggested, lower your memory ratio (esp. if it's greater than 1:1), or switch to less aggressive timing in BIOS, if possible.

When I run Memtest 86 and get memory errors they show up in the GUI as errors. The entire app doesn't crash. I thiink you're having a different problem.

You could also try running DocMemory and see what it says about your memory. It's not as thorough as Memtest 86, but it might show if you've got bad RAM without crashing.
