Right now im running a Q6600 @3.2 ghz, with 2GB of OCZ Platinum PC6400. Mobo is an XFX 680i LT and its running great. The only problem with my system.. ive only got 2GB of RAM.

Im running Vista 64 so i know i can use the additional ram, but A) Will it work. B) What kind/speed/brand should i get. C) Is it worth it to upgrade??

What i think i want to do is add a 2x2 set.. making the total 6GB.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Do you currently use all of your RAM? What's running slowly?

Nothing is running slowly, except when i have multiple things open. Right now i have FF, Photoshop, Media Center, and some other small programs and everything seems a little sluggish. I have basically narrowed it down to ram.. particularly because it cant be CPU load. None of the 4 cores are over 30% atm.

Ya, i figured it was worth it.. Still leaves me with the 2 more important questions. Brand and will will my mobo work with 4DIMM slots filled.

As for the mobo, all i can do is hope it will.

For brand, right now i'm looking at Mushkin. Right now i can get the 2x2GB set of Redline PC2-8000 for 75$ Compared to what ive seen on Newegg and Tiger.. thats a decent deal. Especially since its Mushkin

sounds like a good deal.
As for four slots, no way to tell ahead of time, plug it in and try. Worst case scenario, you take the 2x1GB pack and sell it on ebay and only use 4GB, or you could just return your 2x2GB pack for a refund.

All your RAM will have to run at the same speed and voltage, just so you know. I agree, go for it.

Those are a decent deal, though they are more expensive than what i can get. Everything i've heard is that Mushkin is good. 75$ for RedLine PC8000 is a good deal too.

As for cooling, not a big deal. Ive got a NZXT Tempest (tons of airflow) and a Gemini II CPU cooler which covers the ram entirely.

I like the added speed of the mushkin, though that would only be necessary if i dumped the 2GB of PC6400 i have now. Tough decision..
