Memory Upgrade Options

OK I have decided I want to upgrade from 1Gb to 2 in the memory department in the semi near future.

I have a A8n-SLI Deluxe
3000+ Athlon 64 (Winchester Im pretty sure)

This is what I currently have installed:

mushkin Value 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146299

So for 80$ I can buy a second kit.

Im fairly worried about the memory controller issues that are commonly pointed out using 4 sticks with various nforce4 boards. As well as the fact that the kit currectly installed is 6+ months old.

Cost is a pretty major concern but I will do whats right. That said is the only real option buying a 2Gb kit ( 2X1024) and scrapping my 1GB kit?

I Dont currently overclock and dont intend to. But I have in the past and would happily play with the memory timings if I was sure I wouldnt end up with a nightmare on my hands.

Mostly looking for opinions and feedback. Anything offered is appreciated.

you can sell the current kit and replace it with the 2x1024's, but losing t1 and 3200 is nothing to commit suicide over, in other words, it's tolerable.

I would think it would be noticable goign from 400 to 333 AND losing T1. Maybe im misunderstanding. Also what about the report that boards are simply unstable with 4 sticks? is that just a few localized but loud reports?
