I recently built my new system around the 8RDA+ mo-board with 2100+ and 256mb of CAS 2 pc2700 ram. The ram module i purchased can be found here. When i originaly set up my system the bios set up the ram as pc2100 at 6-3-3 with CAS 2.5. When I went back and manualy changed the timings to those recommended by the retailer, both 6-3-2 at CAS 2 and 2-3-3 at CAS 2, I am not able to run my system stabily. I have since gone back to the bios recomended settings, and I realize that at this point there probably isn't a major performance difference, since i am not a hardcore gamer. But I purchased the module so that in the future if i upgrade to a 166 fsb processor I would be able to run in sync. Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I try different timings? Did i just get a bad module? Did the company pull a bait and switch?
P.S. Does anyone know of any good free benchmarking utilities (dont' want to spend $40 on 3dmark) and Hardware monitors so i can check my system temp in windows?
