Memory Stick Pro problems

I have a 512mb MS Pro that I use in my Sony digital camera. When I take it out and insert it in my card reader, it works like it's supposed to. But when I try it in my neighbor's Sony LCD with built in card reader, it says that there is no card inserted. Also I just got a new Samsung DVD player/VCR with built in card reader. It does the same thing (even though it clearly lists MS pro as one of the formats it reads). It does read my 512mb SD card from my smartphone just fine.

Is the problem that my card is a Sandisk, and not a genuine SONY? Because I guess I can see that being an issue with the TV (that or it only uses regular MS and not the Pro version) but it really seems like my samsung should work...

Hmmm I tried my Sandisk card in yet another Sony TV with built in reader, and it didn't work either! I really wanna know if this is a common issue before I go buy a 2GB MSpro duo.

I don't know if it's related, but if I try and take my 256mb memory stick pro to a place like wal-mart to get them to print the pictures, they claim there's nothing on it.

Is yours a Sony brand, or Sandisk?
