Memory speed or quantity?

I'm currently running an Nforce 3 MB that only has 3 DIMMs and 2 of them are occupied with a stick of 256mb Kingston ValueRAM. I just recently got a hold of a 512 stick of the same type. Thing is though, I can only run all three at the 166 divider (pc2700) with 2T, while I was running the original 512 at ddr400 with 1T.

Would it be better to have the Gig at slow speeds, or only 768 at higher speeds? How much of a real life impact would that speed difference be?

I'm a fairly heavy gamer (HL2, Farcry, etc...) and the rest of my specs are:

athlon 64 3000 s754
GeForce 5900xt
Epox 8kda3j

thanks

Try both and see which works best.

I'd think the more memory will give you a better real-world experience, but you have the tools to try out both, play for a day one way, then play for a day the other. Stick with what works best.
