Memory running slower than expected

I'm kind of confused about this.
I bought these things at newegg
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Conroe 1.86GHz LGA 775
MSI P6N SLI Platinum LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX
Kingston HyperX 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
Thermaltake CL-P0257 Blue orb II

I got it put together with some other stuff I already had. It works great but
my memory is reported as 667. I tried to change it to 800 in bios setup but it said overclock failed after it failed to post. Am I missing something?
The package I got says khx6400d2/1g

you may need to up the V for the ram - look at the ram specs and see what V they need to run @ ddr2800 specs. normal V is 1.8V, usually ddr2800 needs to be higher - 2.0,2.1, etc. check the info and see what it says.

i was just afraid to set the voltage too high
but then i checked on their web

just keep it in their spec and you should be good to go 🙂
