Hey, I've been getting weird memory reference errors. Usually doesn't crash the machine, but can be a pain in the butt. It rarely happens playing games, so it's not the video card. It seems to happen more when I've got a lot of programs running at once. Makes me think it's CPU, PSU or memory controller on BIOS or something (ran extensive mem86+ tests and windows mem tests with no errors on either set of ram). Here's my setup:

  • Windows XP Pro
  • c2d e6300
  • GA-965p-ds3 v.1 (bios updated to F10)
  • 4GB OCZ Platinum PC2-6400
  • x1900xtx
  • 250GB SATA2 WD and 74GB 10k Raptor WD
  • 500W Ultra PSU

Any ideas guys?

is the error something like "The instruction at 0x77f41d24 referenced memory at 0x00000000" ? If so, do a google search, plenty of info on it, and I believe there is also info about it on MS website.

If thats not the error you get, post the full message, or attach a pic.

You'll need to be more specific with the error message..and why are you running 4gig of ram on an OS that doesn't support it? If you have a memory re-mapping setting in your bios, make sure it's disabled, because it can cause problems with 32 bit operating systems. I would try running with 2gig of ram and see if the problems persist.
