I read the latest topics in the memory section in Anandtech and as far as gaming is concerned I think that PQI 3200 turbo is one of the best memories for low overclocking of maximum DDR466. Do you agree as well? I am replacing my P4 2.53C Northwood Processor with a P4 3.2 C processor and my mb is the DFI Lanparty Pro
875B (Rev. A). The thing I do not quite understand is how is it possible some PC3200 memories to be able to overclock and perform better than some PC3700 for example. Does anyone know? Am I missing something here?

Shall I go for the PQI or you suggest something else? I have a Volcano 7+ cooler and I am not willing to replace it and that is why I said that I am interested iof up to DDR466 overclocking = P4 3.2@ almost 3.7.

Anything higher than PC3200 is basically PC3200 that's guaranteed to run at those higher speeds when overclocked. They often use the same chips.

I know nick1985 has gotten his G. Skill PC4400 ($235 for 2x512) to 295 FSB on his Winchester A64 3000, so look into that or some Patriot CL2 PC3200.

GSkill PC4400 uses TCCD chips, top knotch, and that GSkill PCB overclocks it better than anyone else. Go for it.

Here is where I get confused. Why shal I go for the GSkil 4400 and not the 3200 since they both can reach lets say DDR466 and the 3200 has better timings? 2- 2-2-5? And how come in the Anandtech memory review they have the PQI performing better? By the way the PC4400 isn't DDR2? Does it fit on mb that uses DDR1?

The G. Skill 4200 will most definitely do 2-2-2-5 at PC3200; the timings quoted are for PC4400 speeds.

There is no official specification for DDR1 above PC3200, but higher names are used for overclocking memory such as this. DDR2 memory speeds are noted like this: PC2-3200 or DDR2-400.

So I gues from all the brands and latencies out in the market you are recomending the G-Skill PC4400 as the best memory for my DFI Lanparty? How come and I have not heard of this brand though before? and as I saw the memory it seems like a value series. It does not even have heatspreaders. I suppose it is safe to overclock it even with no heatspreaders right?

Does ram really get hot? I would think case fans are enough.
I like my Patriot ram, I got alot of it for cheap. I think the amount of ram is much more important than speed. haven't seen any banchmarks that show high-speed ram performing much better than the low-priced stuff. Maybe i'm wrong

ofcourse memory timings are very important and I would say more important than the sise you have as long as you have lets say 512Mb of Ram. If you have more than 512Mb you must most probably not using about 600Mb from this RAM so it does not make any difference. Personally I have 1Gb of PC2700 ram and I will sell it to go for a PC 3200 or higher 512 Mb. I personaly never utilised up to now more than 512Mb.This is what I am trying to find out here. If it worths spending money for a memory higher than PC 3200 or if it is all a marketing for just to make money.

If you're going to be overclocking and you want to run 1:1, then you want overclocking RAM--CL2 PC3200 or CL2.5/3 above PC3200. Try to stay with a gig of RAM, though--run a divider if need be.

I know that 1 Gb is better than 512 but the memory I have at the moment is just a 1Gb dual chanel kit PC 2700 of value ram and I can not overclock much. Only about 200 Mb or so and by checking the prices I can not afford to buy a 1Gb dual chanel kit of PQI Turbo. I will go at the moment for 512Mb of RAM with future plans of placing 2 more 256Mb dims to make a total of 4.

What I still can not understand is for example is why should someone go for a PC4400 Gskill lets say instead of a PC3200? Since the PC3200 overclocks fine and since as they say PC 4400 uses the same chip as pc 3200 why should someone spend more money to go for the PC 4400?
