Is it worth it to get an upgrade?

Needs:

I will not do OC.

Budget: max: 200 bux.

Setup:

SSD Samsung pro 500GB.
PSU Cooler master da 1200w.
MOBO asus P8P67 EVO, link to the manual here.

You could buy another 4-8GB used set of RAM for cheap, but I wouldn't sink that much money into that system.

Instead, save up and replace it all in 2-3 years, as by then it will significantly slower than modern setups.

BTW, on your next build, you don't need anywhere near a 1200w PSU. A 500w - 600w would be plenty.

@UsandThem changing them with a pair with higher hz than 800Mhz won't make a difference?
Thank you.

Not in "real life" usage, and the only difference would be running synthetic benchmarks. Just use the money you'll save by putting in your future PC build piggy bank.

Have you used up all your available RAM now?

If not, adding more, faster RAM will do little, maybe shave a few secs off a big job, but, that is about it.

UsandThem is correc,t it would be worth it in the long run, to just get a more up to date system, that would shave off mins. off a big job, and not a few secs.

OP, based on my calculations, your "800Mhz" RAM, is actually DDR3-1600 speed RAM (double data rate, remember?)

As such, it's pretty-much operating at spec. So, any faster RAM would involve overclocked RAM. Which, given your audio work, would seem hardly worth it. Any performance differences would likely amount to under 5% advantage, and only really be measurable in synthetic benchmarks.

OTOH, if you're actually running out of RAM currently, then I would invest in more RAM of the same type, or at the very least, the same size / voltage / timings.

@VirtualLarry @Elixer I will follow UsandThem's advice. I was thinking to increase the speed in order to achieve better performances, if it were worth it.
Eventually, if I will run out of RAM, based on your suggestions, I will add a pair of the same model.

Here is my RAM specs, tho:

Thank you.
