Memory Questions

MSI K6 Ultra (May send it back for the Ultra2-R)
XP 2200+

I want to know how much Ram windows XP can use. Will it be effective over 512 or not?
Also, what does it matter if I get ECC or Non-ECC? Buffered or Unbuffered? Etc.

For now I just got some generic ECC 128 mb stuff. But as soon as I'm sure of everything I'm going for either Mushkin or Crucial 2x512mb.

Get back.
Thanks.

WinXP needs 128 MB, 256 to 512 MB seems to be the average around here. Some people prefer to have 512 MB for gaming needs, some say 256 MB is good enough.

I would get non-ECC memory.

Go to Crucial's website and use the memory selector there to help determine what memory can be put in there or look at the manual from the motherboard.
