Next week I'm going to upgrade my p3 800. I've decided on the IS7 motherboard. I'm still undecided on whether to get a 3.0 or 2.4 and overclock. Right now I'm leaning to the 3.0 just because I don't want to get the 2.4 and have it not overclock well. I have everything picked out for the PC except for the RAM. At first I was going to get Corsair TWINX1024-3700 1GB DDR466 XMS3700 Dual-Channel Memory w/Heat Spreader Retail from googlegear at $328. Then I saw that Crucial has DDR PC3200 ? CL=3 ? Unbuffered ? Non-parity ? 5ns ? 2.5V ? 64Meg x 64 at $93/each. Would the Corsair allow me to overclock better since it is 466 opposed to 400? I really like Crucial and it is a lot cheaper. Whether I get the 3.0 or 2.4 I plan to try to overclock a little bit. Any suggestions?

Yeah... you are correct in your assumptions. The Corsair DDR466 will OC better than the Crucial DDR400 DIMMs. Of course, how high are you going to go?

I would go with Corsair 3200 400mhz ram. If you look at newegg.com in the reviews on it, you can read tons of posts from people who have oc'ed their 2.4x/2.6c over 3.0ghz with EASE using stock cooling. People seem to be buying the 3200 Corsair over anything else for overclocking the 2.4c/2.6c chips. I'd also recommend getting a SLK-900-U with a Thermaltake SmartCase Fan II. Great cooling combo.

If I go with the 2.4, I would be happy OCing to 3.0. If I go with the 3.0 I probably be happy with like 3.3.

batmang(haha nice name), why would the 3200 be better than the 3700?

I'm going to get 3.0, and would like to know which memory to get. I heard that Corsair 3700 was the way to go. If 3700 are the way to go, than which one of these two should I get.

Corsair Memory XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series, Low Latency (Twin Pack) 1GB(2 x 512MB) 2x(64MX64) PC-3700 With Heat Spreaders.
Corsair TWINX1024-3700PT 1GB DDR466 XMS3700 Dual-Channel Memory w/Platinum Heat Spreader.

Also, How far can the 3.0 be 0c'd with stock cooling?
