Hi everyone
I was putting together my next system, and I have decided to get an Athlon XP2100 and attempt to boost the bus from 133 to 166. Now I see alot of people talking about how great the corsair XMS memory is for overclocking and higher bus speeds. My target bus speed as I said is 166mhz. I am wondering is their any real point to get the expensive XMS memory rated to run at the 166mhz speed? Can't I just buy the generic stuff rated at the same speed? If the generic is rated as DDR2700 then it should be all I need. I am aware that the corsair will probably allow me to run more agressive timings. I can't seem to figure out whether the approimate 5% boost in performance by running the more aggressive timings is worth twice the money for the memory. Is there something I am missing?
Thanks
edit-Anyone know what high density and low density relate to? Is there a significant performance diff?
