hey guys, i was contemplating on buying another gig ram for my comp i have a 1.5 gb right now, the thing is that if i put two double sided ram in my mobo itll make the clocks go down to DDR 333 instead of DDR400 should i still do it, i want to play a lot of FPS games like FEAr and BF2 and i just feel that my video card is getting bottlenecked because of it. thanks

1.5 sogould be enough, but if you think you have to have more.... get anouther 1GB stick and sell off the 512 stick. That way you have 2GB @ 400. However I stand by 1.5 is enough for those games.

kd.

did yo not read the post? if i get 2 gb ram then my clcoks will go down to ddr 333, should i stay at what i am or just get the extra 512 and not worry about the clock going down so much? i hear people are saying its only a 1-2 percent difference between having 2 gb ram at 400 and 2 gb ram at 333

He meant that if you want 2gb then you should drop one of your 512 mb sticks and buy a 1gb stick to avoid populating all of your dimm slots. You'll only be forced to run at DDR333 if you use 4 sticks.

i only have 2 slots of dimm, im running sockt 754, so it i drop the 512 and get 1 gb im going to go down anyways, and if i dont then ill stay at ddr 333 but at 1.5 gb thats why its so confsuing for me!

haha damn you! haha i would but then i would have to change cpu, video card and ram. too expensive, so what you guys think should i just get 2 gb ram and not care about the drop in clocks?

no, you wouldn't. the DFI lanparty nf3 250gb is pretty much the best socket754 board ever made. you wouldn't have to upgrade anything. it has AGP video and 3 DIMM slots. i'm using 2 1GB sticks at DDR454, 1T. i wouldn't recommend a simple motherboard upgrade to many people but i think i would really help you out. the only thing is the hassle involved in gutting your system- always a pain.
whether you do or not, i still think you should ditch the 512MB stick, regardless.
