Memory question

Right now I'm looking into getting more memory, upping my total amount to 2GB. I'm wanting to upgrade my system due to the onslaught of future games that are coming that'll probably require more raw system power in order to run at a great/decent graphical quality. My current memory setup consists of 2x512MB modules running in dual-channel mode, each running at PC3200. However, my processor is an AMD Athlon64 3200+ Winchester core, so the memory controller is not as great as that of the newer venice core.
If I go ahead and get an identical pair of 2x512MB GeiL memory modules at PC3200, my memory settings will fall to T2 and DDR333. Will my overall system performance fall due to this lack of speed, or will it still see enough of a noticeable difference to justify ~$100 (in future games, of course)?
Should I go ahead and get another 1GB now or just wait until I can get 2 1GB modules? I'd obviously rather go the cheaper route, but I know that sometimes that's not always possible when maintaining a gaming computer. 😛

what are you worried about, you have way more than you will ever need right now! i have a p4 2.6@3.0, 512mb geil 3200, and a 6600gt , and i can handle any game flawlessly. you might need to upgrade your card at some point, but i think your good on memory,,but then again it wont hurt anything either.
 
1Gb is the "good" amount of RAM these days for playing games.
I know that when I'm running Half Life 2, my memory usage is up to 90% of 1Gb, so it's definitely using it.

Personally, I'd get two 1Gb sticks myself, and thereby avoid the DDR-333 problem.
 
Why not wait until those games come out to decide. I would think better and cheaper memory would be available in the future, s it is senseless to upgrade now...
