Right now I'm looking into getting more memory, upping my total amount to 2GB. I'm wanting to upgrade my system due to the onslaught of future games that are coming that'll probably require more raw system power in order to run at a great/decent graphical quality. My current memory setup consists of 2x512MB modules running in dual-channel mode, each running at PC3200. However, my processor is an AMD Athlon64 3200+ Winchester core, so the memory controller is not as great as that of the newer venice core.
If I go ahead and get an identical pair of 2x512MB GeiL memory modules at PC3200, my memory settings will fall to T2 and DDR333. Will my overall system performance fall due to this lack of speed, or will it still see enough of a noticeable difference to justify ~$100 (in future games, of course)?
Should I go ahead and get another 1GB now or just wait until I can get 2 1GB modules? I'd obviously rather go the cheaper route, but I know that sometimes that's not always possible when maintaining a gaming computer.
Thankoo. :3
