What are the chances of getting this Kingston memory to clock down to DDR 433 (218mHz) @ 2-3-3? Please let me know!!!

Manufacturer: Kingston
Model#: KHX4000/512
Speed: DDR500(PC4000)
Type: 184 Pin DDR SDRAM
Error Checking: Non-ECC
Registered/Unbuffered: Unbuffered
Cas Latency: 3-4-4-8-1T
Support Voltage: 2.6V
Bandwidth: 4.0GB/s

Hi Corey,

Can you not just put them in your rig and see?

In case you don't have them yet and are considering purchasing for the rig in your sig, be careful. I have heard that pc4000 does not always go well with a NF2 mobo. Over at nForceHQ, the NF7-S section of the forums, there is a sticky at the top regarding incompatible ram and pc4000 is listed there.

CL3@DDR500 = 2ns cycle time * 3 = 6ns access time
CL2@DDR433 = 2.35ns cycle time * 2 = 4.7ns access time

Odds: not so good. That's a significant reduction in access time (in terms of percentage).

CL2.5@DDR433 = 2.35 * 2.5 = 5.875ns access time.

That's likely more doable. It's tougher to judge with the other timings, but you could *probably* run CL2.5 at DDR433 with this RAM. CL2 operation at that speed would be much less likely.
