Memory question, what does low profile memory mean?

Hi, I am looking for a memory and I see people advertise it like this. Low profile, high quality. What does the low profile mean? What do you look specifically when you're looking for a memory? Do you look at the chipset or whatever? What kind of chipset is the good one? It's for my notepad. So please let me know. Thanks

Good morning. Low profile just means that the PCB is a shorty. Some mobo's/cases do have internal height limitations for one reason or another. I have a stick of Infineon memory that's about 1/4 inch shorter (height) than my stick of Micron. It runs just fine. As long as you stick with good memory (Micron/Mushkin/etc) it doesn't matter whether it's a shorty or not.

MichaelD has it correct, the chips on the "short" memory the chips are usualy mounted horizontaly and "tall" memory is usualy verticaly.
