Memory Question for Dell 9100

Last September I got a Dell 9100 with a P 2.9 Dual Core Intel processor. I got it stock with 1 GB of memory, but want to upgrade. My question is this - since I've got 2 512 MB modules installed, can I add a pair of 1 GB modules, to give me a total of 3 GB memory ? or would I need to replace the 512 MB modules ?

I'm thinking of just ordering from Dell - it's only $89.99 per 1 GB module. Any better deals out there ? I do place some value on knowing that I'm getting a module that will at least be compatible with my system.

and you'll get an answer.

Suggest you go to Crucial site and ask them.
Could also do a price check while you are there.

Yes, you can do that. Move your two 512MB modules to memory slots 2 & 4. Add the 1GB modules to memory slots 1 & 3. Try these...

Corsair Value Select memory works great in Dell systems, I have four 512MB modules of this same memory in my 9100.
