Ive got 768 Meg of memory in my comp, 256meg of PC2100 DDR SDRAM (2.5-3-3-6), and 512 meg PC3200 DDR SDRAM (2.5-3-3-6). My quiestion is this: If i took the slow 256 meg stick out, would the comp run games and apps faster, because ive heard that the PC2100 is slowing it down, is this true?

By all means, tear that slow stick out

even more so when u currently have 3 slots occupied....when u have only 2 slots occupied, u can disable 2T command, which will also make quite a difference

sell the slow stick...and buy another pc3200 512 mb stick...it will surely make a big difference

Make sure the 512 stick is identical to the one u have now...meaning u can run them in dual channel mode...iff not now (dont know what mobo u have), it will certainly come in handy when upgrading to a newer motherboard

I have a Jetway S447 motherboard, would the dual channel mode work on this mobo?

The motherboard has a sis 645chipset, so it is not dual channel capable. What speed is your FSB running at? Is your memory running at a divider? If not, and your memory is running @ 1:1 with the FSB, then no, taking out the slower stick, will make absolutly no differance in speed. That motherboard doesn't even support 200mhz (800mhz effective)FSB, so without overclocking even more, you won't be able to run the PC3200 at full speed anyway.
