I have two sticks of ram.
256mb of GeIL Golden Dragon PC3500 433MHz DDR GD3500-256">http://geilusa.com/proddetail.asp?linenumber=28[/S</a>
and
256mb of Kreton Xtreme Speed Memory PC3500 T256M-3500">http://www.kreton.com/blitz_modules.htm[/S</a>

I have tried every combination and just having one of the sticks in and I ALWAYS get 256mb total, not 512.

Any tips?

do both chips work when you have them in seperatly?

also... what are the timings on each chip?

try manualy setting the timings to something that both can run on (try slowest for each to start) then put the other stick in and see what happens. Realy strange that it would boot with both and only recognize one. Have you tried a single stick in slot2 or slot3? Possible that only slot1 is actualy recognizing a chip?

I tried setting it down to 166 or 133 and I tried switching 1T and 2T

what should I set my cas timings to?

I'll try only slot 3 or slot 2 to see if thats whats going.

ok, I tried setting the timing manually but no change.

I tried only DDR2 or DDR3 and it still works.

hmmm...

put the chips in slot one and slot three

then set the timings to 3-3-3-11. Make sure in the Cell menu you do not have agressive timings set.

well... where did you get the mobo from? where did you get the ram from?

also run memtest on each stick when you place it in the board (run each stick individually).

sldo try posing on the msi forums.

go to www.msi.com.tw -> twaiwan -> support -> forums. they may be able to help a little more.

ok, I submitted my problem to MSI support and got this reply
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is not recommended to mix different brand, spec, CAS Latency, SPD, and timing of the memory modules into the newer boards since it will cause memory timing problem between the modules.

Please do use in Dual Channel Pairing memory modules from the same vendor.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Should I purchase another stick of ram that is the same brand and model?

hmmm...

i would recomend going with 1 512 stick (just incase in the future if you want to upgrade to 1 GB).

what is your price range?

Actually, I thought about this.
I planned to upgrade my CPU in about 18months so I planned to get some dualchannel ram and go up to 1gb
I figure it would be better to get both sticks together and I could get something better for the same cost.

oh well, I'll look for some ram
