Memory problem, will not detect!!!!!! HELP!!!!!

After a faculty member bought memory from Crucial and gave it tome to install, I did it and the system did not detect the memory as if it werent there. I get 2 beeps. There are 2 DIMM slots that support up to 16MB each, so I installed as normal. No luck. We have concluded that the system will only accept memory with 8 memory chips. It will not take 4 or 16 chips, only 8. Why is that????

Find the documentation for the motherboard. There should be identifying marks on the board itself or read answer #5 in the FAQ at Wim's BIOS Page.
