Memory Problem w/ASUS A7N8X -- DDR400

I have an ASUS A7N8X and I'm trying to get two 256MB sticks of Corsair DDR400 CL2 memory to work properly on the motherboard. The memory runs at 200MHz max (chose "By SPD"). Can someone also provide me with a link to a website that shows you how one can optimize your settings through the BIOS? I've tried playing around with some of the settings for memory and there were many times when I had to clear the CMOS because the system wouldn't boot.

I tried searching for this problem on the internet and on the ASUS website, they suggest you use "By SPD" (which I did) or set it to 150% (which I tried and it wouldn't boot).

I've never seen Crucial DDR400 CL2, where did you find it???? and bump for you

My bad. I was reading another thread that mentioned Crucial memory and it just stuck to me.

Thanks for the info! I checked their support forum and used their recommended settings. I'm still only able to get 200Mhz on XMSPC3200C2 RAM. I have a 256MB stick in slot1 and another 256MB stick in slot3.

Anyone else getting this?

If you haven't perused the Corsair XMS 6 stick shootout! thread in the CPU forum yet I recommend it, there seems to be several cats getting better results from the 3000 than the 3200 or 3500 so if the sticks you have are running the speed and timings Corsair states in the specs but won't go higher boost the vDIMM and if it still won't improve post in the aforementioned thread for more potential cures for your sticks lack luster performance.

200MHz is DDR400. 200 x 2 = 400 Happy now?

EDIT: I'd recommend switching to manual timings instead of By SPD, too.
