I haven't been paying too much attention lately, but does anyone know why the price of RAM went up almost $30 in some places over the past month? I didn't hear of any other earthquakes in Taiwan.

It's the annual late summer RAM price hike. Computer sales jump now because of students getting computers for school. That and the fact there were reports a few months ago that there would be a dearth of RAM starting this summer and which was expected to last a couple years. Whether or not there is any correlation, I don't know.
