Memory prices

Just wondering what your viewpoint is on the memory price increases; I've been pricing memory for several people and the chips all took a $10 hike (not overly bad, just wondering why) and how long that will last (if it's permanent or not).

So, is the $10 increase due to production costs or inflation?

Perhaps demand? Retailers know alot of people are building new computers, so they can charge a little more for the memory.

LOL, true that. Memory used to be extremely expensive. I remember buying 64MB of EDO RAM for $300. If you think about how much more money people are making now a days, the cost of computer components are ridiculously cheap compare to the old days.

I'm not doubting how cheap it is (still; it was only a $10 increase) - i'm just curious as to whether it's permanent or temporary, i.e. whether to get it now before it goes up again or wait because it will drop to the (sub-)$100 level.
