I hope they keep dropping. I'm starting a new build soon, so the extra savings sure help.

Related? Hm...
Not a chance; they all made many multiple times more in profits, than they paid in fines. The reason the price is dropping is because Xmas is over, along with the fact that most people who were planning on buiding or buying a C2D-based system have already done so.

Wow what a great deal:

I picked up a pair this weekend when it was $239 AR:)

I hope they are good, I can't find any reviews on them yet. I have heard rumors that they don't have the D9 IC's the the Flex XLC PC-9200 uses, but have the same IC's as used in the Platinum line. That makes sense at this price, but I would think they are at least speed binned since it is a part of their flagship lineup

Mine are scheduled for delivery tomorrow and I will be rebuilding my rig this weekend, so I guess I'll find out soon enough

Yeah i highly doubt those use Micron.

I'd bet on ProMOS (which is OCing quite well these days anyway).

NAND spot prices have plummeted nearly 50% in past 8 weeks. This puts pressure on the DRAM spot prices because flash fabs general are equipped to switch product mixes and start pumping out DRAM when NAND prices go south.

Expect DRAM prices to plummet and plummet fast as the flash makers flip existing capacity to DRAM in next 90 days in attempt to stem the Q1/Q2 bleeding this year.

To some degree, three big NAND suppliers?Samsung, Hynix and Micron?have separately scaled back their fab production targets, moving a big chunk of their respective capacity to more-profitable DRAM.
Taken From - Plummeting prices make NAND appear almost free

I don't see much drop in DDR2 ram prices from the links you provided. Seems to me still at 200-250 range.

Vista. As for fines - if they ignore the courts again, that fine will be much bigger next time.

Platinum = Elpida (what I have)
Platinum Rev 2 = ProMos

I wouldn't think it would be the fine that would make prices drop but rather the fact that they had evidently been fixing DRAM prices and have been caught. Of course, they may have unfixed them long ago anyway so you're probably right.

dual channel set though.

the buffalo firestix may or may not be and are only slightly cheaper.

The firestix were swapped out from D9 a while ago, though.

No they weren't.

Somehow one or two non-Micron kits got out into the wild, but 98% of the time, you will still be getting Micron D9GMH.
Buffalo techs have confirmed this, as have many other users who have purchased Firestix after those couple kits that didn't have Micron.

Wow, if only I had waited a month to build my new rig. Then again, a month is a lifetime in this field.
