memory parity error on shut-down

Every once in a great while, I get an error while shutting down. It occurs after windows has cleared out and right before you'd expect the computer to turn itself off. I'm paraphrasing, but it basically says "Hardware Malfunction: parity check failed. Contact hardware manufacturer for support."

Is my RAM on the fritz? It's running completely stable otherwise--no artifacts, no trouble POSTing, performance is as I would expect it to be.
Or is this a relatively common problem with windows XP shutdown?

I couldn't find much about the message but see if this clues you in on anything similar to your situation that could be the cause.
