I have a 256 Corsair memory stick and a 512mb "TA" memory stick I bought off Ebay. Leaving all the settings on auto except for memory speed when I put them at PC3200 settings the computer crashes.

When I take out the TA memory it works at 400mhz using the defualt settings of Auto and speed at 400mhz.

Is the TA memory faulty? What settings can I try the memory at? Should it work on "auto"?

Welcome to the AT forums powerpenguin,

A couple questions first:

1) What are your system specs:
-CPU (brand/speed/socket)
-Motherboard (brand/model/chipset)
2) What are the RAM details (for each stick):
-Timings (tras(cas)-trcd-trp-tras, ie 2-2-2-5)
-Voltage (stock rating, it should be labeled on the DIMM)

Try using your system with each stick individually. If you can't post with the TA ram, it could be faulty. If you can post, run Memtest 1.60 ( http://www.memtest.org/ ) and make sure that the RAM is good.

Finally, when running unmatched RAM, you always run at the lowest speed rating (timings or speed ie PC32oo) for the ram you are using.

1) Socket 939 AMD 64 3500+ on a asrock 939Dual-Sata
2) I don't know the timings of the RAM, I can't even find a site for TA.
3) I don't know the voltage either. I know the corsair is value select.

The TA memory caises a crash when run by itself when Windows starts. The Corsair memory runs OK. (When each is run individually)

Put the TA memory in alone, in the location the motherboard manual specifies when using a single module, and run memtest+.
