memory managers for winXP?

does anyone use any 3rd party applications for managing their RAM usage? anything good or useless out there? I used to go like 30 days without rebooting when i first installed windows, now my computer gets pretty slow by day 5 and dosent even have much stuff installed.

That's just Windows. There are some "memory managers" out there, but they are all pretty much useless.

Going 30 days without a reboot is OK, if that's what you're into. But unless there's a reason to keep it running that long, a reboot every 5 days isn't anything to complain about. Those who keep up with Windows Updates find themselves reboot at least once a week.

What are your system specs?

Uh no, anything that tries to mess with memory mangement would have to run in kernel mode and I don't believe the NT VMM is able to be disabled so they'd just end up fighting with each other. Most of those tools are completely worthless and just do a really large memory allocation and release it to force things out to disk and make you feel like you just accomplished something.

We do? That's not how things are on my machines.

QFT. I reboot XP once per month or so, if that.

Once a week? Microsoft releases new patches the 2nd tuesday of the month. If you are going strictly on WU you reboot once a month.
