Memory kit : which one?

Hi everybody

I'm not very friendly with the vocabulary used with the memory kits like the CAS and the voltage... (and sorry for my bad English by the way ). I'm planning to buy new parts for my computer, here's what it looks like:

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice
Abit AN8 Ultra
ASUS AX800XL /2DTV 256Mb
Lian-Li PC-60B Plus
Enermax EG365P-VE 350W
Razer Diamondback Salamander

I also want a 2*512Mb memory kit. So, I would like to know which of these kits is the best:

I Like OCZ Seriously, it's because I'm sure to have these kits at the store where I go...

Can PC-3500 works on the AN8 Ultra?

I will mostly use this computer for gaming (Counter-Strike Source, Battlefield 2, etc.), mapping, web designing, and surfing on the net. A little overclocking is something that I want to try too (with a Thermalright XP-90C + Panaflo). I'm opened to suggestions, but I don't really want to pay more than 210$ for the memory.

Go with Corsair Value Select RAM or Kingston Value RAM. Get the AMD 3000 Venice and overclock it to about 3700 speed. Use the extra $ you saved toward an Enermax 495 Noisetaker V2.0 ($75).

Also check out the Antec SLK3000B case. This case will keep your electronics cool n quiet without spending a lot of $.

The video card has the biggest influence on gaming performance.

Have a look at this THREAD. It's a big discussion on ram for the a64 systems. It appears anything other than value (inexpensive) ram may be a waste of money.

Check the thread I linked. The ram doesn't really affect how the CPU OC's. Seems also that slower ram can be run with a divider w/o hurting performance on the a64 systems. Opposite from the older XP platform for example.

I doubt you "need' a 495 watter. But 350 may be a bit "light".

The 495 is more efficient and will run cooler resulting in less noise. It will also allow you to add more junks to your PC. You can use the $ saved with the CPU to buy a better PSU.

Go value ram. Newegg has a G.Skill 512mbx2 Dual channel Cas2(fastest offically supported latency) for $99. It's a good brand and it ocs well enough, but as many have said, Ram Speed/Cas/Timing dosent really affect a AMD64. When you oc, a motherboard can setup a divider so your ram runs stock or close to stock speeds qhile yuor cpu hits higher speeds.

aso for 350w, i agree it's a bit light. X800xl uses by it self ~70w, The AMD64 uses 89w a motherboard,keyboard,mouse uses ~36w, 2 Sticks of DDR ram take 14w, each HDD sues around 6-12W and each optical drive uses 10-20w. Each usb device further drains 5w and then you haven remembered your sound card, etc.

I think a quality 400w would do it, but a average 450w should hold out fine. there is a X-Clio 450w at Newegg for $53

I suggest NOT to get an Ultra X-connect. Use the search feature and type in that PSU. Too many peeps have had VERY bad experiences with it, for some it has worked out OK. But no need to take the chance on it IMHO.
