Memory issue

I have qualified Kingston DDR400 (KVR400) in the P4P800 , but when the machine boots up the BIOS reports DDR 266. In the bios setup, I can't find a 400 value? What's the problem. Perhaps a bios upgrade is needed?

What chip are you using? A non-800Mhz chip might only be able to drive the memory at the 266 speed.

Bingo!!! I'm using a cheapo Celeron 2.4a...so obviously the speed of the RAM wasn't critical, I just wanted to make sure I didn't get some bad memory (even though is was Kingston retail box).
