I added 512 MB of Kingston PC3200 ram to my Dell Dimension 4550 (P4 2.4) conputer. I already had 512 MB of Hyper X Gaming ram in it. Specs says it supports 1 Gig and it shows up. Problem is everything seems VERY SLOW now -- I get almost locked up opening some large folders (like pictures or video) - whole system freezes for as much as 30 seconds or more. Is there some utility I can use to check the RAM to make sure all is working as it should ?

I also installed a Western Digital 200 Gig Hard Drive bought from Dell and wodner if maybe it is just TOO BIG so things don't open as they should. It is installed as one large drive - no partitions. OS - Windows XP Pro, Nvidia Geforce Ti200 video card.

Really I guess I need some utilty that will evaluate the system and tell me xxx is screwed up.

How does it work with either of the 512 sticks but not the other? I don't know about changing timings on a Dell.
